New brief.

Rebrand an existing independent store/retailer, identifying its strengths and weaknesses and improving its image with its customers.
Consider: Choose the retailer you intend to rebrand and identify the aspects of the store that are its successes and weaknesses and draw a profile of its intended target market. Print based media may include new identity and full ad campaign including double page spread article, billboards, adshells, direct mail, brochures etc. Promotional material may include new signage and shop frontage, window displays, in store displays, uniforms, bags, possible guerrilla or viral marketing. Multi media including storyboard for ad campaign, promotional film, website, interactive D.V.D.

i looked into re branding various independent stores, such as charity shops, children's play centres, flower shops and also music shops. However i decided on re-branding an arts and crafts store in warrington town centre named 'Edwin Allen's'.

typography.

I had been stuck on what my logo should look like for AGES. so i had a talk with pete one of my tutors for some advice on which way i should go with it. We looked through my sketch book on what i had done so far, looking at the images and illustrations i had included and in the end we found a drawing of a whisk from one of the baking books i had purchased from amazon. So i started drawing different parts of the whisk and joining it with the word 'rise', experimenting with different types of typography.

cake stands.

as i decided on creating three different sized cake stands as my trophys for the competition, i now have alot! of research to do...
i started by looking at different floral patterns which could feature in my designs for the stands, as most cake stands i've researched so far all have a certain colour scheme with flowers, birds, hearts or floral patterns.

Trophy.

As part of my competition i have to design a trophy, which is relevant to my competition. I had many many many ideas some of these being, a crown made from baking appliances, a tea set, a golden cherry, golden cupcake, a golden whisk (all of these being gold, to highlight the value and worth of the trophy), a baking set.
I wanted not just one trophy but three, 1st, 2nd and 3rd...and each of these being presented on a tier of a cake stand. However decided to speak to my tutors about my decision and they also liked the idea of the  cake stand idea...however instead of this presenting the prizes, the stand can be the prize.
1st prize being a 3 tiered stand, 2nd being a two tiered stand and 3rd being a one tiered stand. I thought this was a much better idea and decided that i could hand design each cake stand, being veryyy creative.

think think think.

Today we had another one day project, consisting of a lot of thinking. We had to create a 'bad' poster advertising our competetions in order to realise what would be a 'good' poster. I focused on the design of my poster being very plain, lacking in pattern and colours. However although this is the absolute opposite of what i want my poster to look like when recieving feedback from my tutors i realised that the black and white line drawing of the cupcake was actually quite a good idea as it sent the message that you are left to design the cupcake however you would like... as though its a 'blank canvas' for you to work with. The bottom section of my typography also suits the style of my potser, aswell as the chosen colour of pink. Sooo, overall this project has left me with A LOT of ideas to work with.

Stained glass.

we have been asked to design a selection of stained glass windows to feature in the college    chapel...we had a meeting with the colleges chaplain Rosie who told us some of her ideas for what she wanted the windows to look like and include. Rosie said that she would like the windows to include natural colours, with bits of purple ( as thats the colour scheme of the room), to focus on curves rather than straight lines and also for it to show respect for earth and all thats in it.

One day project.
wirral egg run.

today we were set a one day project where we had to create a trophy for the annual 'wirral egg run'. Where motorcyclists drive to raise money for children's charity. We had to make a logo for the competition, the trophy and a Marquette of the trophy.

Marquette of my prize, this being a bikers leather jacket with easter themed badges etc....

competition

we have been asked to design a poster, designs for a website, and a trophy for the competition of your choice...CUPCAKE COMPETITION! We must carefully consider the title of the competition, who are the judges, entry requirements, and also the closing and starting date. I also have to look into what skills my subject will demand of its entrant...craft or just random luck?

Teesha Moore.

As part of my research for the layout of my magzine, i looked at Teesha Moores work. Most of her work includes a lot of bright colours, working into images, hand written text, patterns, photographs and also illustrative drawings, . From this i decided that i wanted to hand make all of my magazine rather than create it on the computer.

examples of her work...
